A blogging thank you award.

I have seen many blogging nominations and awards and been offered them. And while I appreciate the thought and kindness and appreciation behind them they come with rules and the need to thank this person and refer back to this person and I often feel like these awards are not as much a “Thank you for being you.” But more of a ” hey will you link to my blog and thank me” so I have never done one. I know that is not the intention. The intention is pure and it is meant to show appreciation and that has never gone unnoticed by me. I just have never participated in them. Maybe it is just me, a hang up I have. I think it is because it feels CONDITIONAL. Accept this under these conditions.

So I am offering something new. With this photo if anyone wants to use it I offer it out to the world as a THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU AWARD. It comes with no conditions or rules. It is just a thank you from one blogger to another for always being there, for comments that sometimes turn a bad day into a hopeful one, a thank you for making me smile when I thought that would be impossible, a thank you for sharing you and inspiring me, a thank you for giving me hope when I thought there was none.

This is my THANK YOU AWARD that can be shared to all of blogging world but especially to all of my followers who have made me feel, in the last few years, finally, not alone in what I have gone through. Thank you

    1. Thank you! I really appreciate that and I appreciate all of the positive feedback you’ve given me.
I thought I could put a new spin on the awards. Have no idea if anyone will go with it or not. I hope so though

      1. I like this new format much better. Though I do like making nominations because it gives recognition for people who really deserve it.

      2. I like the recognition part and that’s why I wrote that thank you for being you which sums up the person’s being as just marvelous! I understand the awards and why people do them I just thought I’d try something new

    1. I mean it! For you and the others that have lifted me up I appreciate you! Once I can collect all of the links I will post them. I’m not very good at that part

  2. Aw this is really nice. (Sorry I’m not a fan of that word so much because it can sound so trite, but I’m having difficulty thinking of a better word right now.) This post touched my heart though. A gift for all. I love this photo.

I have difficulty with the award thing too. I’m just not that organized so it just goes by the wayside and I never get to doing what I’m supposed to with it.

    1. Me either. And I thought it was time for something a little different where it didn’t reflect back on the person giving it. Just on the person they appreciate. And I appreciate all you have helped me through

    1. Thanks! He’s awesome isn’t he! My daughter saw him again today and said that for sure he is still smiling. We feel like we may be living in another world currently

  4. I share your views on those blogging awards, which is also why I never participate in those. I’ve received an award which I accepted, but only because it was one of the extremely rare unconditional ones, like what you’re doing. πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing your world with us Bethany.

  5. What an amazing idea! 😍 And you captured perfectly the sentiment that began to sort of gnaw at me a little surrounding blog awards. While lovely, and while I’m grateful for them, they also apply a sort of pressure that I rarely have the energy to meet with dignity. So, although I intend to fulfill the tag when I’m tagged, it doesn’t actually happen very often.

This, on the other hand, is a fantastic idea, and it truly feels free, with no strings attached. And someone above nailed it: the first person to deserve such an award is You πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ’—

    1. I thought so!!!! Just a thank you for your awesomeness award. I mean why not! Not this link to me, plug me, talk about me, answer all these fucking questions. Well I appreciate the recognition but don’t feel like playing along. So this is just a straight up thank you for being you award. I just posted one and no one has to do a damn thing but think about the fact that they are truly appreciated!

      1. Lol amen! I’m cool with giving credit where it’s due but yeah, so much pressure. As in, it’s not free-writing, which is tough enough for me these days 😊 I know the feeling; I appreciate the recognition and inclusion (rarely in my life have I ever been included in much before realizing I’m AS and actually participating in the blogging community), but yeah, it’s tough to do them. The rules alone lol. And then the hurt feelings when you can’t think of everyone at that precise moment! I like your style much better πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’“πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ˜˜

  6. I totally agree. While the intent of the person nominating may be good, these are not really awards. They are ways to increase blog traffic disguised as awards. The amount of work involved is exhausting; especially for someone with a chronic illness.

    1. Yes!!!!
      Thank you!
And I hope you are on my list. If not I am adding you now!!!!
I tried to go through all of my emails but some I could not connect to and copy and paste.
But the idea is just to acknowledge someone without needing something in return. It’s kind of crap these nominations and awards. I wanted to do a legit blog thank you. I hope it makes a difference.
And right. Especially for someone with a chronic illness. It took me 2 hours this morning with one hand copying and pasting web addresses. Last night when I wrote my blog it pained me every moment and I had a pain patch on my shoulder neck and face . Most people without chronic pain or illness don’t really understand that we blog for a different purpose

      1. I changed my blog name to one soul speaking but I think I need to change the name that I comment with so they will match up.
