When you can’t keep up because you’re ill

Throughout being ill I have found, and still find, it difficult to accept I’m not well. A little voice inside my head says ‘There’s nothing wrong really, you’re just lazy’. This often makes me work beyond what I cam actually manage, which in turn often brings on a severe peak of anxiety or depression.

I think those that struggle with mental and or chronicle illness often find themselves wondering if they’re actually just imagining it all. This is strengthened by the fact that so many people tell you to ‘just be more positive’ or ‘you just need to want to recover’. They expect you to meet the same deadlines and function to the same standard as healthy people regardless of whether or not they know you’re ill.
